Wakabato Iso Hineri rice crackers: Thought I hadn't tasted this particular brand before, these seaweed-flavored rice crackers are a classic Japanese snack. The rice crackers have a braided texture and curled shape, almost like a tentacle, and are coated with a sweet and savory glaze speckled with nori. Addictive and well balanced, these are the rice crackers I most often crave. Purchased from Tokyo Fish Market. 4.0/5.0

Shirafuji Seika Ika mirin age: To mark the occasion of reaching 1,000 tasty snacks, I went to Tokyo Fish Market to purchase Japanese snacks. I purposely picked two bags without any English on the packaging. The first was a squid-flavored rice cracker which, according to the ingredients, contains shrimp, cuttlefish, and octopus. Combining these seafood flavors with a generous amount of MSG leads to a umami-rich snack. The irregularly shaped crackers have a deep orange color and a shiny coating. Very satisfying and tasty. 3.5/5.0

Befco Nori-flavored Bakauke Rice Crackers: This is my first time eating Bakauke, a Japanese rice snack with a glazed exterior and oblong shape. The type I purchased from Hmart was flavored with soy sauce and nori. While the seaweed flavor was distinctive, the soy sauce was overpowering and made the crackers salty overall. 2.5/5.0

Berkeley Bowl wasabi snack mix: An incredible value, at a little over $4 for 1 lb, this bulk rice cracker mix has all of the classics: unforgivably spicy wasabi peas, varied shaped (stars, squares, and more) crunchy glazed rice crackers, and nori-covered pieces. I do wish there was a sweet cracker thrown into the mix, but really, there is little to find fault with. 4.0/5.0

Lotus Foods sweet & savory Thai arare rice crackers: I'm usually wary of non-Asian brands taking on Asian flavors (and charging more for it), but I was interested in what Thai-flavored rice crackers might taste like - I usually associate rice crackers with Chinese or Japanese flavors. This snack is made of heirloom brown and black rice, with several differently shaped and flavored pieces. I will say that if you munch on them, you don't really get much Thai flavor. It's only if you let the crackers dissolve a bit on your tongue that you taste s... (read more) 3.5/5.0

Kameda Soft Salad crackers: Slightly more savory that's Want Want Shelly Senbei crackers, but a decent neutral snack. I prefer rice crackers paired with sweet icing, though. 3.0/5.0
