Boulder Canyon sweet Vidalia onion kettle cooked potato chips: These crunchy potato chips represent the best of both worlds: a surprisingly sweet but familiar sour-cream-and-onion flavor with non-GMO ingredients. The chips are certainly not healthy, and the they could be less thick; nonetheless, they are an addicting special treat. 4.0/5.0

Lays Jalapeño kettle cooked potato chips: Surprisingly spicy. Aggressively seasoned and more crunchy than crispy. If you're going to eat an unhealthy snack, it's worth going all in. 4.0/5.0

Deep River Snacks New York Spicy Dill Pickle Potato Chips: Really love a classic kettle cooked potato chips, and this pickle flavored one feels like it's meant to be eaten alongside a freshly made deli sandwich. I got it in a train station convenience store, so I just ate them on their own, which was still super tasty. Concentrated dill flavor; crispy and substantial; seasoned just right. 4.0/5.0

These cucumber-flavored chips were purchased at an Asian grocery store and originate from China. Perhaps this is unsurprising, as crushed cucumbers, flavored with salt and vinegar, are a perennial side dish in Chinese restaurants. These chips are both savory and sweet, with a remarkably true-to-name flavor. They taste more vegetal than sal... (read more) 4.0/5.0

Hula's Sour Cream Maui Chips: These potato chips are marketed as being made using "American Potato Chip Methods" but are fully Japanese, first developed by a Japanese man who spent time in Hawaii during WWII. By "American Method," I think it's referring to a kettle style potato chip that's thicker and crunchier than most potato chips you can find in Japan, which tend to be almost translucent in thinness. To me, the sour cream flavor tasted even more tangy and creamy than the sour cream and onion chips I've had in the U... (read more) 4.0/5.0

Hula's Shrimp and Garlic Maui Chips: Another flavor of Hula's potato chips, Japanese kettle-style potato chips that stand out for their Western-looking packaging and portion sizes (typically in Japan, the potato chips come in smaller 1-2 serving packs). Shrimp and Garlic is not a normal potato chip flavor I'd see stateside, so it was exciting to give this Asian take a try. The garlic flavor is very prominent and is the main flavor you taste, though the seafood does come through as well. It reminds me a bit of shrimp scampi, ... (read more) 4.0/5.0
