Darrell Lea dark chocolate covered ginger: This box of chocolates contains a gold-colored pouch with bite-sized chocolates. The chocolate coating is thin but substantial enough and encloses a chewy dried ginger interior. The ginger is mildly spiced and very sweet. My only previous experience with Darrell Lea is the strawberry licorice they sell at Trader Joe's, which I like. This candy was about average. 2.5/5.0

Max Brenner's Dark Chicao: Bite-sized discs of dark chocolate embedded with cocoa nibs. The cocoa nibs add texture, but the flavor of the chocolate and nibs don't build off of one another. Overall, the chocolate is not particularly special and pricy for what it is. 2.5/5.0

Niedereggen Marzipan: Marzipan coated in a thin layer of 71% dark chocolate. Fantastic nutty flavor that isn't too sweet. Love that the chocolate is so thin and doesn't overwhelm the marzipan. A special German treat. 4.5/5.0

Pocky Demitasse: Stockier than your usual Pocky snack, these crackers are dark chocolate flavored biscuit covered in a generous layer of dark chocolate. The chocolate flavor is nice and bitter, and the snack feels substantial and rich despite its smaller size. Likely the best Pocky I've had. 4.0/5.0

Raaka Oat Milk Dark Chocolate: I've been buying chocolate bars once in a while during my weekly grocery trips to the Park Slope Food Coop. This one from Raaka checks all the boxes in terms of guilt-free snack purchases (organic, single-origin, etc.), with the inside label covered in facts about where the chocolate comes from and how much it costs to produce. The packaging waxes on about using unroasted beans as a way to bring out the "brighter, bolder, and fruitier side of cacao." This particular flavor is described as... (read more) 3.0/5.0
