Daelmans caramel Stroopwafel: I received this free Dutch snack on a recent United flight. The sweet waffle-like cookie has a chewy caramel-flavored center. Overall, I found the cookie too sweet, but the texture was satisfying. 3.0/5.0

Newman's Own Ginger Hermits: These soft cookies are remarkably like Fig Newtons, with the same rectangular shape and dried fruit (raisins) throughout. While spiced like a holiday cookie, there is little ginger flavoring I could discern. Decently filling and moist, with a chewy texture. 3.0/5.0

Trader Joe's Joe Joe's 'n Cream Ice Cream: Available year round, Trader Joe's version of cookies and cream tastes very much like any other cookies and cream ice cream you might buy, with a classic combination of vanilla ice cream and chocolate cookies. Bitsy's Brainfood Sweet potato oatmeal raisin cookies: I was a fan of the zucchini gingerbread carrot cookies I previously purchased from this brand, so I decided to try another flavor from their line. No whole raisins to be found - the ingredients appear to be ground into the same mix. Suspiciously, these cookies were a very similar shade of brown as the zucchini gingerbread carrot ones and also had... (read more) 3.0/5.0

Berkeley Bowl Fig Newtowns: Berkeley Bowl sells an assortment of fig newtown-style cereal bars in their bulk section, from apricot to raspberry to, well, figs. I sampled both the raspberry and fig cookies and prefer the tart sweetness of the raspberry to the more ordinary, but still decent, fig. They're more dense and substantial than traditional fig newtowns, both in terms of the texture of the soft cookie and the fruit-chew-like interior. The fruit flavor overall is far superior than what you will find in other pa... (read more) 3.0/5.0

Back to Nature Triple Ginger Cookies: Purchased on sale at Berkeley Bowl, these cookies incorporate ginger powder, crystallized ginger, and ginger extract (hence the "triple"). Decent basic ginger snap cookies that are crunchy without being a danger to your teeth. 3.0/5.0
