Trader Joe's ginger beer: Last year, I attempted to purchase this drink only to find that the seasonal product was sold out. Seeing it on the shelves this time around, I was especially excited to try it. I'm picky about my ginger beers, and this one is good. Surprisingly robust, spicy ginger flavor for a mass market audience. Good amount of carbonation and citrus. Worth checking out. 4.0/5.0

Clover strawberry soda: Nicely carbonated water with a light yet flavorful strawberry syrup. Mix and drink with a straw to get the full effect. 3.5/5.0

Maine Root root beer: Lightly carbonated fair trade soda. Rich and sweet with a deep spiced flavor. Slightly minty. Would prefer it to have 2/3 the amount of suga and to be more carbonated, but generally a satisfying drink. 3.5/5.0

Crush Grape soda: Somehow manages to have "natural and artificial ingredients" yet contains no fruit juice (which is clearly marked on the can above the nutrition facts). An insane amount of sugar. Yet this formulated grape flavor harkens back to summer field days with freeze pops, ice cream sandwiches, and other highly processed yet nostalgic foods. In other words, this soda is childhood, albeit a completely unhealthy one. 2.5/5.0
