Cha House Oolong milk tea with boba: This charming Taiwanese cafe on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill, NC has a variety of snacks but specializes in bubble tea, with a mix of classic milk teas and fruit teas. I purchased their oolong milk tea at 0% sweetness since the boba are already steeped in brown sugar. The boba had a pretty good texture, though it was a tad soft for my taste. The oolong tea had a refreshing herbal flavor yet was also creamy and rich from the frothed milk. Overall, a solid and very traditional milk tea. 3.5/5.0

Cheerio Melon Cream Soda: Got this bottle from a 100 ¥ vending machine in Tokyo. The flavor is sort of like a fruit-equivalent of Mountain Dew in that the sugar and flavor concentration is shocking, but I actually kind of like it. It strikes a really good balance of fruity and creamy and does taste like (an extremely sweet) version of a fruit soda float. In that way, it's exactly as advertised. But I can't drink much of it in a single sitting because it's so sweet. 3.5/5.0

Cheerios Multi-grain peanut butter Cheerios: On my last normcore grocery trip, I was tempted to purchase a childhood favorite: peanut butter cereal. A quick glance at the nutrition facts of Peanut Butter Crunch, though, made me think twice. Instead, I opted for the less colorful packaging of multi-grain Cheerios, which I assume is targeted towards adults like me (who enjoy junky sweetened cereal once in a while but also want to seem responsible and somewhat healthful). The cereal was actually really satisfying: it had a classic if unr... (read more) 3.5/5.0

Cheeseboard Brioche: The Cheeseboard brioche is a knotted roll that's more rich than sweet, with what must be a very generous amount of butter and eggs. They're what give it a vivid yellow color and soft texture. Raisins add to the lightly sweetened bread. A more neutral offering than their savory breads. 3.5/5.0

Cheeseboard Corn Cherry Scone: Wholly satisfying combination of textures, with a slightly crusty baked exterior, soft but grainy textured interior (from the cornmeal), and plump and tart cherry halves scattered throughout, Areas of sugar coating seem extraneous, as it is just sweet enough without. A nice sweet baked good that's substantial but not heavy. 3.5/5.0

Cheeseboard Cheese Roll: This is a quintessential offering at Cheeseboard, combining the two things the famed bakery is know for: cheese and bread. The roll has a tangy, sharp flavor both from the melted crispy gruyere and from its sourdough base. Slightly crusty but soft and fluffy inside, it’s delicious in its simplicity. 3.5/5.0
