Leonelli Focacceria e Pasticceria Hazelnut Cookie with Chocolate-Orange Ganache: Partnering with non-profit Cookies 4 Kids, Leonelli in NYC has created their own set of shortbread sandwich cookies, with 100% of the proceeds going towards raising funds for pediatric cancer research. The michelin-shaped cookies are made by hopeful pastry chef Lindsey Bittner, and they are perfectly executed, with the most excellent shortbread I have had anywhere. The cookie yields almost immediately, with a rich, buttery texture that you have to taste to fully appreciate. Inside, the Valrhona chocolate filling is subtly citrusy. The star is definitely the shortbread, but together, the sandwich cookie is impressively delicious. The entire set costs just under $5, or under $1 for each cookie, which is just about the best value you can probably find for cookies of this quality. 4.0/5.0
