Q Spectacular Grapefruit Soda: Spectacular may be a stretch, but "Quite Good" is not quite as catchy. This fizzy grapefruit soda has a tangy flavor that's somewhere in between not-very-sweet and Coca Cola sweet, which is to say that it's sweeter than I personally would prefer but nowhere near as sweet as most canned sodas. It definitely has a distinct flavor from orange soda, so if you like grapefruit juice over orange juice (as I do), this is a good alternative. It's meant as a mixer for cocktails but tasty all on its... (read more) 3.5/5.0

Dr. Brown’s Diet cream soda : I typically drink diet soda to minimize sugar intake. I’ve gotten used to the taste of aspartame (disgusting, I know) and have found over the years that diet root beer seems to fare the best in terms of minimal fake-sugar taste. So I was curious about this diet cream soda, as root beer and cream soda share some similar flavor qualities. The diet cream soda from Dr. Brown’s was quite good as far as diet sodas go, with the vanilla (or more likely vanillin) aftertaste masking much of the unplea... (read more) 3.5/5.0

Choya Yowanai Ume Soda: This Japanese soda is made by drink-maker Choya, who seems to specialize in liquors. This non-alcoholic soda was purchased from Momofuku Bang Bar in NYC, and while it has what appears to be a peach or nectarine on the can, it's ume-flavored, which is a type of Japanese plum. The drink has a really distinct fruit flavor that is unlike any other fruit soda I've had before – slightly tangy, it reminds me of those asian pickled plum candies, but as if all the sourness typically associated with... Choya Yowanai Yuzu Soda: Japanese soda flavored with yuzu and lime. Has a pleasantly tangy and sharp citrus flavor that is generally enjoyable, though it does verge on too-sweet if you drink the whole can. Still, it has a sourness that you don't typically find in American lemonade drinks. A great flavor for those who looking for a more punchy citrus drink. Purchased at Bang Bar in Manhattan. 3.5/5.0

Epsa Blood orange soda: This Greek soda comes in a sturdy glass bottle textured like Orangina's and marked with a distinct diamond emblem reminiscent of an astrological symbol. The soda is pretty sweet, but it's better balanced than Sunkist or Fanta and is flavored with black carrot juice. You could tell it's orange soda right away, yet the blood orange juice is distinctive and worthwhile. Purchased from Saloniki in Boston. 3.5/5.0

Mito Yuzu Cider: This bottle of citrus soda from Shimane Prefecture, Japan, was purchased from Japan Village's Sunrise Mart in Brooklyn. The soda tastes like a citrus-leaning ramune; quite sweet, but the acidic yuzu flavor helps balance it out. Half a bottle was the perfect amount for me, which is also oddly the serving size listed on the nutrition facts. Would probably pair really well with savory food. As far as citrus sodas I've had, this is definitely above average. 3.5/5.0
