Frito Lay Pizza-La Ebimayo Chips: Pizza-La is a takeout pizza chain in Japan second in popularity only to Domino's. While I haven't actually had their pizza before, I have had pizza in Japan several times from chains like Pizza Hut, takeout at grocery stores, and acclaimed pizzeria restaurants, so I've experienced some of the regional specialties tailored to Japanese tastes. In particular, it's common to see mayonnaise drizzled across the top of pizza pies, giving the pizza a creamy, tangy, and sweet flavor (the sweetness is one of the main differences between Japanese mayo like Kewpie and Hellmann's). These chips are more tortilla-chip-like than Dorito-like, with a thicker texture and charred grill marks and predominantly fried corn flavor. They're coated in an orange dust that tastes more like a flavored cheese than a pizza. I say this because there is very little tomato flavor that would make you think of a traditional pizza, so the dominant flavor is of cheese and mayo. It isn't overwhelmingly mayonnaise-flavored though – more that you get the sweet and slightly acidic aftertaste of something like buttermilk or sour cream. The main flavor, though, is of fried tortilla chips, which is just okay. Definitely a new flavor that I hadn't experienced before, though! 3.0/5.0
