Tea Hut Jasmine milk tea with boba: It’s kind of outrageous how saturated quality bubble tea shops are in the Bay Area. We’ve all become accustomed with fine-tuning our drinks to our exact specifications - with numerous toppings, sugar levels, and even the amount of ice, down to a percent. With the range of available options, tea shops are resorting to other ways of distinguishing themselves beyond ingredients, turning to the beverage’s vehicle itself: the humble cup. Here at Tea Hut, a small bubble tea shop right next to b. Patisserie in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights, they use sturdy tall plastic cups that are more like tumblers than your typical thin and flexible plastic cup. Gone too are the flimsy plastic film lids, replaced by a plastic cap with sippy cup openings and slots for various sized straws. These cups almost certainly could survive a drop, which may come in handy when walking through Pac Height’s infamously steep hills. But is the tea just fancy packaging? The jasmine milk tea I had indicates otherwise, with a delicious floral tea flavor paired perfectly with creamy milk. The boba is very good and there is a generous amount so that you finish both the drink and boba at the same time. Based on the quality of this drink, I would definitely want to try many more flavors here! 4.0/5.0
