McDonald's BTS Meal Sauces: I went along with my sister to McDonald's for the BTS meal, not knowing much of what to expect other than that two dipping sauces were co-designed to accompany their standard chicken nuggets meal. At a 4pm on Wednesday, the day the collaboration was officially released, there was a snaking line outside the drive through, and given an endless feed of BTS-themed McDonald's TikToks I saw afterward, I can only imagine everyone was there for the same reason. I can't say that I know much about the band (group?), or if there's much of a story behind the sauces themselves, so this review is solely based on the flavor of the product. The Cajun sauce is a creamy, egg-based dip the color of nacho cheese. It reminds me of Trader Joe's Magnifisauce, a sort of tangy orange mustard-mayo combo that wouldn't be out of place in a sandwich shop – without any context, I would not have guessed it was inspired by any asian flavors. The sweet chili has a thick, viscous consistency similar to duck sauce and is semi-translucent with flecks of chili throughout. The sauce was incredibly sweet on its own but mellows out a bit when eaten with the bland white meat of Mickey D's chicken nuggets. It did have a slight, pleasant kick of spice at the end. Overall, with no sign of this being a special product other than the Korean characters on the label, the sauces tasted pretty familiar, like slightly amped up version of what you might normally find at any fast food chain. 2.0/5.0
