Skittles Sweet Heat Candies: First, I did not purchase this snack. It was shared with my batch at the Recurse Center earlier this summer, and when a bizarre snack is freely offered to me, you can bet I will at least give it a try. The bag contains your standard Skittles colors and flavors: strawberry, watermelon, orange, lemon, and mango. Just like normal skittles, they are way too sweet and consequently send sharp pains immediately through your dentures directly to your taste receptors. But a few seconds after the first bite, a surprisingly inoffensive spicy flavor begins to develop and lingers pleasantly, almost like a mild version of Red Hots. Just like Sriracha balances spicy and sweet, the flavor scientists at Skittles managed to get it just right, where the sweet heat candies are still most definitely candy yet are distinctively spicy. Worth a try, if Skittles are your thing. 3.0/5.0
