Trader Joe’s Calamansi Cooler: I’m a fan of the increasing number of calamansi-flavored products I’ve witnessed overt the past year, and there is perhaps no bigger institution to bring visibility to this tropical fruit than Trader Joe’s. Their calamansi cooler contains less than a 12oz can but looks substantial given its slender and tall packaging. Reem’s Hibiscus Rose Cooler: Finally made it to Reem’s, the middle eastern cafe in Fruitvale (Oakland) specializing in housemade flatbread. To accompany the robust za’atar-spiced flatbread, I got a cup of refreshing and sharp hibiscus rose cooler, a purple-maroon colored drink that tasted of an amped-up floral pomegranate juice. Well balanced and perfectly complementary, it rounded out a complete, delicious meal at Reem’s. 4.0/5.0

Gatorade Citrus Cooler: Tangy citrus alternative to the classic lemon, this one has an equal mix of lemon and orange flavors. I find it less cloyingly sweet than the strawberry watermelon. Still, I wouldn’t choose to drink this save for health concerns (in this case, refueling my body with electrolytes due to a stomach flu). Good news is I think I’m recovered! I still have some more beverages to review that I consumed during my illness, though. 2.5/5.0

Happy Lemon special cooler lemon slush: I'm not sure what special cooler means, but this Taiwanese drink chain continues to be one of my favorite places to visit when I'm in Flushing, Queens. This slush was on the sweet side but was also pleasantly tart and contained what seemed to be jelly bits (I didn't pay for any add-ins, so this was a pleasant surprise). Perfect for warm days. 4.0/5.0
