Forager Lemon Cashewgurt: Lemon (and perhaps citrus more generally) just never seems to work as well as other fruit-flavored yogurt. Its hydrous pulp segments risk watering down the yogurt, and their omission consequently leaves little room for texture. Though zest has the potential to provide a freshness that cuts through a creamy yogurt base, it can, in combination, lead to an overwhelmingly acidic and tart flavor. Rather than seeing lemon standing on its own, I'd like to see more yogurt incorporating lemon as a... (read more) 2.5/5.0

Trader Joe's Pink & Whites Cookies: Trader Joe's continues its quest to cover all bases, taking familiar cookies and adding just enough of a twist to keep them fresh. These tweaks involve amplifying the flavor of a classic (like their vanilla-concentrated Nila wafer knock offs) or giving new form to an otherwise ordinary snack (like their cat-shaped cookies). The appropriately named Pink & Whites, shortbread cookies with pink-and-white yogurt coating and colorful sprinkles, are essentially frosted animal cookies shaped as fl... (read more) 2.5/5.0

Pavel's Whole milk yogurt: Purchased on sale at Berkeley Bowl since I needed whole milk yogurt for a soup I was cooking. Product has a nice tart flavor, but the texture will be off putting to most. It doesn't have any stabilizers, so after you open it, it quickly becomes both clumpy and watery. Works well if you're adding to other things bough, like a soup or smoothie. 2.5/5.0

Traderspoint Creamery Raspberry Yogurt: Small glass jar with a gold foil top containing European-style organic yogurt. Seems to be perpetually on sale at Berkeley Bowl, probably because it's not as filling as other yogurts (because of its size), costs more (probably because of the packaging), and has a thin consistency that's even more watery than typical non-Greek yogurt. Leans more towards a soup than a yogurt. The flavor is decent but mostly familiar. 2.5/5.0

Yogurt Pump Red Raspberry Frozen Yogurt: During my visit to Chapel Hill, I tried to seek out local ice cream shops and found the independently-owned Yogurt Pump among Ben and Jerry's and Coldstone Creamery. On offer was about 8 different flavors, ranging from salted caramel to red velvet cake. After sampling the strawberry lemonade (which was extremely sweet), I asked what the least sweet options were, to which the response was Vanilla or Oreo. That was worrisome. But I ultimately decided to order a small serving of the red ras... (read more) 2.5/5.0

Green Mountain Creamery Pumpkin Pie Greek Lowfat Yogurt: The Park Slope Food Coop has some of the more extensive yogurt selection I've seen in any grocery store, even beyond Berkeley Bowl. Once in a while, I'll grab a brand I haven't reviewed before, and on my last trip, I grabbed this seasonal pumpkin pie flavor from Vermont-based Green Mountain Creamery. Unfortunately, the yogurt was kind of bland in its expected flavor profile - the texture was a bit loose for greek yogurt and the spiced flavor was too cinnamon-y for my taste. I wish it taste...
