Trader Joe's triple ginger cookie thins: I really like these cookies. They have an unapologetic ginger flavor, and the texture is slightly crispy. They have a better ginger flavor than Anna's Swedish cookies, and they still have a satisfying bite without the thickness of normal ginger snaps. Highly recommended. 4.0/5.0

Drop the Mic Ice Cream: Chikalicious is my favorite dessert bar, and I highly recommend it if you haven't been before. They recently launched an ice cream menu at the bar when it had normally been closed M-W. The ice cream I previously had, both in plated desserts and across the street at their dessert club shop, were all impressive. On my last visit, I tried each of their current offerings and will share my thoughts on each one, though the overall score is representative of all the ice cream. Pictured here is the... Loacker Blackcurrant Quadratini Wafer Cookies: Generally, I'm a fan of the Italian brand Loacker, which offers square snack-sized wafers in a variety of flavors. I found the blackcurrant flavor to be especially good because they are actually more tart than sweet. The wafers are crispy and thin, and because they are thick, they feel like a substantial snack despite the bite-size package. Definitely one of the best Loacker wafers I've had. 4.0/5.0

Gjusta Miso date cookie: Gjusta, the sister bakery of Gjelina in Venice, LA, is apparently popular enough to not need any signage. It’s unlabeled storefront conceals a narrow counter and dining area, where patrons wait for a variety of pastries (cakes, cookies, croissants) and hot and cold prepared items (pizza, salads, pâtés). Luckily, their express line was relatively short, which meant purchasing this miso date cookie took just a few minutes. The sizable cookie contains a single date at its center. Its texture is... People's Pop Melon Basil Popsicle: I got this popsicle from NYC-based frozen treat brand People's Pop for free at a pop-up. It had a refreshing concentrated cantaloupe flavor whose natural sweetness was complemented by fresh aromatic basil. A sweet and just a tad savory combination that worked really well in the summer heat. 4.0/5.0

T. K. Foods Salted Egg Yolk Cookies: When my parents shared these Chinese salted egg yolk cookies with me and told me they were available at Costco, I was skeptical. Sure, Costco has a lot of Asian customers, but the idea of salted eggs as a sweet snack didn't strike me as having mass appeal. Fundamentally, though, eggs are a primary component of many baked goods, so if you think about it, the idea of a salted egg-based treat doesn't seem so foreign. These individually wrapped biscuits are flaky and buttery, easy yielding and c... (read more) 4.0/5.0
