&pizza berry ginger lemonade: I was excited about all the craft soda options available at the fast-casual pizza chain &. Unfortunately, all six I sampled from their fountain machine were overly sweet. This berry lemonade had just a bit of spiciness from the ginger but tasted mostly like berry juice. 2.0/5.0

Bickford’s Creamy soda: In hindsight, there were a few warning signs: 1) the label has “with artificial flavors” in fine print, 2) the flavor is creamy soda and not cream soda (I thought maybe it was an Australian thing), and 3) when was the last time you saw a red-colored cream soda? Turns out it’s red because of Red 40, which of course impart no actual taste to the drink (also ironically the packaging states “a century of purity”). Suntory Melon Pop Soda: I'm not sure what I expected from this atomic green soda, somehow even more neon green than Surge, the height of artificial soda in America. But I think I was craving some variety after not drinking any interesting beverages for some time. I purchased the bottle from a 100¥ discount vending machine.
