It's-It Vanilla Ice Cream Sandwich: Finally had one of these San Francisco classic frozen treats, with vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two oatmeal cookies, all covered in dark chocolate. In other words, it's essentially everything you really shouldn't eat if you're watching your diet. That being said, some treats can be well worth it when eaten infrequently. It's-It is not one of them. This hefty ice cream sandwich is extremely sweet, and the ice cream has a strange whipped-cream-like flavor and texture. I was pretty... (read more) 2.0/5.0

Cream Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Sandwich with Chocolate Chip Cookies: For the past few weeks, I've passed this popular Ice Cream shop on my way back from Amoeba in Berkeley and always noted the long lines. At around 10pm last Friday night, it took me 8 minutes in line to get to the counter, where I was greeted with an overwhelming scent of butter and baked goods. While the menu lists over 20 flavors, only about 10 are actually available at any given time. I ordered their mint chocolate chip ice cream with two chocolate chip cookies for a surprisingly low pri... (read more) 4.0/5.0

Fuku Koreano sandwich: An off-menu item at David Chang's new fried chicken joint in the East Village, this sandwich is exactly the same as the regular fried chicken sandwich with the addition of pickled daikon radish. The pickled veggies are well worth the extra dollar (at $9), as they cut through the surprisingly fatty fried chicken. The chicken itself is very moist and mostly dark meat, and the seasoning of the breading is spot on. The sandwich comes with a side of SaƤ sauce, which tastes like a combination of s... Horizon cheddar sandwich crackers: Made with better ingredients than Ritz for sure, but honestly not that different in taste. On the salty side. Pricy for what it is. Not a filling snack like its peanut butter sandwich counterpart, which I previously reviewed. 2.5/5.0

Horizon Peanut Butter Sandwich crackers: Really nice quality peanut butter. The problem is that there is only a sliver of it about a millimeter thick in each sandwich. The filling to cracker ratio is off. Additionally, the crackers are seasoned so that the dominant taste after a few pieces is salt. Which is probably good for portion control, since only 12 of these crackers make up a serving. At least for me, this is not nearly enough to feel any level of satiation. Definitely made for kids with smaller appetites. 2.5/5.0

United's Bistro on Board's chicken and swiss focaccia: In a moment of weakness and extreme hunger (and after an hour delay on a ~6 hour flight) I gave into paying almost $10 for an in-flight meal. What I received was surprisingly edible. The focaccia had a strong tomato flavor, not too dissimilar from a hot pocket, and the chicken was actually not that dry. The bread sticks to the back of your teeth like most frozen meals. The sandwich came scalding hot, probably straight from the microwave. Definitely an overpriced, (likely) frozen meal, but p...
