Good Health Barbecue Kettle Chips: Good Health labeling may be surprising to find on a bag of potato chips. Despite having high levels of “healthy fat,” avocado oil has somehow helped produce chips with 30% less fat than regular. Healthier may be more accurate than healthy, but health aside, these are still quality crunchy kettle chips, with a largely sweet barbecue flavor. I can’t say I tasted anything that would have made me guess these were made from a non-standard cooking oil. If you want to feel a little better about eat... (read more) 3.5/5.0

Happy Lemon Mango matcha slush: Matcha and mango seemed like an unlikely pairing, but I decided to give it a try as it was marked as a Happy Lemon top pick on the menu. Because of the way the drink is made, it’s not possible to adjust the sweetness, which I was a bit worried about since I usually get my beverages at 25% sweetness when possible. While the drink was on the sweet side, it also had a delicious creaminess that mellowed out the flavor overall. A thick base of mango at the bottom ensures that there is a bit of f... Humphry Slocombe Peanut butter and fudge ripple ice cream: On my way home from work yesterday, I had intended to stop by Ben and Jerry’s for free scoop day but found the line to be prohibitively long at an estimated 45 minutes. I decided it wasn’t worth the wait, but today, I still had ice cream on my mind, so I stopped by Humphrey Slocombe in the Ferry Building and purchased a $4.50 scoop of peanut butter fudge ripple ice cream. It was creamy and rich in a slightly moorish sort of way, with a classic Americana flavor more peanut butter than chocola... (read more) 3.5/5.0

House Kombucha Ginger Fire Ginger and Green Tea with Hot Peppers: The first time I had kombucha six years ago, I found it so disgusting that I hadn't touched it since. But I do like ginger a lot, and this brand of House Kombucha was offered for free at work, so I decided to keep an open mind and give it a try. I expected it to have a very spicy flavor given the flames on the packaging, but it was much more mild (even if the heat built up a bit over time). Despite the lack of ginger heat, I was pleasantly surprised with the overall flavor, which was sligh... (read more) 3.5/5.0

Ucha Tea Ginger Milk Tea with Boba: Back when I first moved to Berkeley, UCha was one of the first bubble tea shops I tried given its high reviews online. I didn't find their barley milk tea to be very compelling though, so I never went back. Recently, on my way home from Pegasus Books, I had a sudden craving for milk tea and decided to give it another try since it's just a block away. Their ginger milk tea, which I ordered at 25% sweetness, was surprisingly good and spicier than most ginger teas I've had from boba tea shop... (read more) 3.5/5.0

Quadratini Raspberry Yogurt Wafers: I generally enjoy Quadratini wafers for their consistent quality and solid flavor. The square shaped wafers are crispy and thick, and this raspberry yogurt version was definitely tangy enough to distinguish itself from a pure raspberry fruit flavor. Well balanced overall, though it isn’t one of my favorites. If you enjoy berry flavors that have some depth, this one is worth trying. 3.5/5.0
