Nairn's Stem ginger oat grahams: Another set of Scottish biscuits from Nairn's, this one flavored with bits of chewy dried ginger. Tastes like a Graham cracker with a bit of spice. Portable snack packs contain two servings, with four biscuits in each pouch. Would probably pair well with tea, though I ate them by themselves. I love ginger, but these biscuits didn't stand out as much as the chocolate chip ones, though they were still good enough to recommend trying. 3.5/5.0

Yum Earth Organic Candy Corn: I didn't know that organic candy corn was a thing, but of course the Park Slope Coop had it, as well as other Halloween-candy alternatives. The bag contains 10 individual snack packs. Natural colorants like annatto and turmeric replace artificial dyes; this gives the candy a slightly duller color palette than typical neon-yellow candy corn. Flavor-wise, though, the candy taste remarkably similar, like honey and sugar with a little bit of a caramel aftertaste. Each serving still contains ... (read more) 3.5/5.0

Mu Mu Muesli Museli Cereal: While not literally crunchy, this muesli is textbook hippie, made with organic whole oats, dried cranberries, dates, coconuts, and raisins, along with almonds and flaxseed, all enclosed in a paper-based bag that feels like it's from a specialty market. On the back of the packaging is a map of the continental United States, listing exactly which state the various ingredients came from (e.g., the rolled oats and wheat flakes are from Iowa). It was pretty pricy, at a little over $6 from the C... (read more) 3.5/5.0

Vita Coco Pressed coconut water: This product had a massive ad campaign featuring harsh critics writing online reviews deeming the drink "pretty good," so I can't help but feel a sense of deja vu. The first time I had coconut water, I described it as drinking liquid cookie, and we have reached peak liquified macaroon with this new Vita Coco drink. It has, if you will, even *more* coconut flavor than regular coconut water, but still with all the usual benefits (potassium and vitamin C). I buy coconut water pretty regularl... Clio Honey Greek Yogurt Bar: I've tried two other flavors of this chocolate-coated yogurt bar (hazelnut and strawberry), and this honey-flavored one falls squarely between the two in ranking. The interior of the yogurt bar is set, almost nougat-like in texture, and tastes vaguely of caramel-like. It's the closest to a candy-bar in overall flavor and texture, with its thin dark chocolate shell that easily cracks when you bite into it. I recommend this one and the strawberry flavor (which is still my favorite). Purchas... (read more) 3.5/5.0

Annie's Organic Grabbits Chocolate Sandwich Cookies: Like many of Annie's products, it's obvious what major-brand staple they're directly posing as an alternative for, but they do it well and with integrity. Clearly these are inspired by Oreos, but meant for parents who care enough to spend a few more dollars on sandwich cookies that contain no artificial flavors, synthetic colors, or high-fructose corn syrup. In the end, they taste slightly better but are much better for you (though at the end of the day, they're still snacks). 3.5/5.0
