Invo Coconut Water: Coconut water is like the avocado toast of the beverage world, though admittedly it takes more effort to cut open a fresh coconut than it is to slice an avocado. Should anyone be charging $5 for a 16oz bottle of coconut water? Invo thinks that it can, but I disagree. I purchased this bottle as an alternative to a can of diet soda from my office's Byte vending machine. The drink has a clean coconut water flavor that is not so different than any other coconut water, at the end of the day. 2.5/5.0

Annie’s Tropical Treats Organic Bunny Fruit Snacks: Fruit snacks bring me back to elementary school and the days of Fruit by the Foot / Roll Up. In those days, organic, fresh foods were not really part of anyone’s vocabulary in suburban NJ. I was curious about what an organic take on fruit snacks would taste like from Berkeley-based food company Annie’s and purchased these on sale. The fruit snacks have a softer, gummier texture than something like Welsh fruit snacks or Dots candy. The tropical pack contains a mix of mango-peach, orange, and... (read more) 2.5/5.0

Coco Libre Coconut water: After having the very good Real Coco coconut water, I have a new baseline with which compare all other coconut waters. This one from Coco Libre has a stronger, slightly off-tasting flavor, which I definitely took as a sign of it being less fresh than the cleaner tasting Real Coco drink. On the more affordable side as far as coconut water goes, but I would gladly pay a bit more for better quality. 2.5/5.0

Lundberg White cheddar & jalapeño baked grain bites: I know Lundbergh from their rice crackers, but this is the first time I’ve seen a snack from them that’s shelved outside of the health food aisle. Baked puffed “grain bites” have a bit of heat but largely taste imbalanced, with a white cheddar flavor that doesn’t quite mix with the brown rice taste. Crispy snack is reminiscent of chicharrones, but lighter and of course without meat. 2.5/5.0

Teas’ Tea Unsweetened lemongrass green tea: I like lemongrass in curries, but in tea it just tastes off. The green tea is good by itself, but it’s nearly impossible to isolate from the savory and slightly floral lemongrass flavor. 2.5/5.0

Puffworks Peanut butter puffs: I expected these corn puffs to be coated in a dry peanut butter powder, but the coating was surprisingly more like paste. That made them a little more challenging to eat, as they leave your fingers slightly sticky. The peanut butter is neither sweet nor savory and was frankly bland. The snack coats your mouth just like peanut butter does, so it also begs to be eaten with a drink. Purchased from Fairway. 2.5/5.0
