Cheeseboard Asiago Roll: While I find the pizzeria next door to be overrated, I've generally had great experiences at the Cheeseboard cheese shop and bakery. The asiago roll, covered in sesame seeds, demands to be eaten fresh out of the oven, when tearing the crust reveals a warm and soft wondrously scented interior, smelling strongly of yeast, cheese, and onion. The onion is caramelized, and combined with the crunchy bits of toasted cheese on the outside, the bread is the ideal savory snack. 4.5/5.0

Chikalicious green apple sorbet: Exceptionally refreshing and remarkably smooth sorbet speckled with bits of green apple. Clean flavor that's perfectly sweetened. A bit pricy for the size, but well worth it. 4.5/5.0

ChikaLicious petits fours: Perfectly executed bites. Incredibly light and fluffy marshmallow that melts almost instantly, chocolate covered in toasted coconut whose flavor develops over time, and shortbread biscuit topped with an airy cream and candied pistachio. Indulgent, clean flavors. Not to be missed. 5.0/5.0

Chimes mango ginger chews: I love ginger flavored things. If I see ginger candy, ale, or beer, chances are very high that I will try it. Over the years, I've become wary of non-Asian ginger candy, as they tend not to be particularly potent, likely in order to appeal to western palates. To my pleasant surprise, Chimes ginger chews defies this stereotype. I bought this flavor in particular because mango and ginger is not a common combination, particularly for ginger candy. Though difficult to remove from its packaging, ... (read more) 4.5/5.0

Chokai Kogen La France Pear Yogurt: A local grocery store offers this unique yogurt made in Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. The 400g mini tubs of yogurt (offering around 3 servings) consists of two layers: a base layer of yogurt that is smooth and acidic, and a layer of fruit compote that sits on top. The first flavor I bought was the La France flavor, which is a type of pear from Yamagata I hadn't heard about before. Looking up more information on the pear, it looks a bit like a D'Anjou pear, but here it's been cooked down to ... (read more) 4.5/5.0

Cones cantaloupe gelato: Cones is a small ice cream shop on Bleeker St. in the West Village specializing in house-made flavors both classic and unique. The cantaloupe sorbet was superb, with a particularly concentrated melon flavor that still felt light and refreshing. Had small bits of fresh fruit. Perfect amount of sugar. I sampled their mate South American green tea (excellent) and corn (also great). My only criticism is that it could be more consistently smooth (some larger icier chunks), but the flavor doesn't ...
