Annie's Organic Grabbits Chocolate Sandwich Cookies: Like many of Annie's products, it's obvious what major-brand staple they're directly posing as an alternative for, but they do it well and with integrity. Clearly these are inspired by Oreos, but meant for parents who care enough to spend a few more dollars on sandwich cookies that contain no artificial flavors, synthetic colors, or high-fructose corn syrup. In the end, they taste slightly better but are much better for you (though at the end of the day, they're still snacks). 3.5/5.0

Annie’s Organic friends bunny grahams: When I first moved to Berkeley a few years ago, I was surprised to bike past the Annie’s corporate offices near 4th Street - I hadn’t previously known it was headquartered there. Berkeley is historically known for hippies, but now it’s too expensive for hippies to live there. Arizmendi Bakery Oatmeal raisin cookie: Based on the Cheeseboard Co-op in Berkeley, Arizmendi had virtually the exact same offerings, like pizza, baked goods, and hot beverages. If the cookies are any indication, though, it is far inferior. This cookie had a crunchy texture and bland flavor. It ate very dry, with little sweetness. Quite simply not good. 2.0/5.0

Back to Nature Triple Ginger Cookies: Purchased on sale at Berkeley Bowl, these cookies incorporate ginger powder, crystallized ginger, and ginger extract (hence the "triple"). Decent basic ginger snap cookies that are crunchy without being a danger to your teeth. 3.0/5.0

Bahlsen Hit cookies: Polish sandwich cookies with faintly flavored chocolate biscuit and vanilla cream. Flavor is so-so. An economical choice (at under $2 a tube). Has nothing to do with the flavor, but is apparently distributed in my hometown. 2.5/5.0

Barbara's oatmeal snackimals: Thin, crunchy cookies that are much darker than those pictured on the bag. Texture of grains in every bite, but overall flavor is a bit odd. Very faintly seasoned.
