Meiji Pucca: Fish-shaped biscuits filled with milk chocolate. The most obvious comparison would be to Lotte's koala cookies, which I find to be better overall; the Pucca cookies don't have much flavor, and they lack the charm of the uniquely printed koala snacks. 2.0/5.0

Trader Joe's Pfeffernüsse: German cookies with a hard coating dusted in powdered sugar. The white exterior is strongly spiced, reminiscent of wintermint, which I find to be overly strong for the more neutral gingerbread-flavored cookie. They are a mess to eat and require a plate to avoid crumbs and dust ending up all over yourself. The packaging suggests pairing with a hot beverage, which I believe would help, but on their own, these snacks are a pass. 2.0/5.0

Arizmendi Bakery Oatmeal raisin cookie: Based on the Cheeseboard Co-op in Berkeley, Arizmendi had virtually the exact same offerings, like pizza, baked goods, and hot beverages. If the cookies are any indication, though, it is far inferior. This cookie had a crunchy texture and bland flavor. It ate very dry, with little sweetness. Quite simply not good. 2.0/5.0

Fujiya Country Ma'am Chocolate Mint Cookies: These are standard cookies you can buy at any grocery store (The Fujiya brand is kind of like the Japanese Nabisco as far as I can tell). The pack has miniature, individually wrapped cookies that are alien-like in their bluish-green color, more blue than a normal mint chocolate chip ice cream. They remind me of a cookie version of Andes mints, kind of like the mint-flavored cleaning gel you get at the dentist. 2.0/5.0

Skeeter chocolate chip cookies: Snack-sized cookies that taste exactly like Chips Ahoy. Crumbly, crunchy, mostly dry. Hey, it was free. 1.5/5.0

Hidden Garden Ginger Snap Cookies with Butternut Squash: One of the major downsides of trying so many types of snacks is that when you hit a dud, you're stuck with an entire bag, which also stands in your way of trying new snacks until you finish it. These gluten-free cookies are quite frankly one of the worst snacks I've had all year. When you open the bag, you're hit with a strong scent of butter, which also dominates the taste. There's also a prominent sweet molasses flavor but very little ginger or butternut squash. I love the mellow sweet... (read more) 1.5/5.0
