Taiwan Bento Soymilk: When it comes to beverages, the Taiwanese just do them better. Classics like Apple Sidra and Hey Song are much less sweet than American sodas, taste crisper, and are simply more interesting. What I'm rating today isn't a bottled or canned product, but it's representative of the same qualities. At Taiwan Bento, a shop close to the 19th street Oakland BART station that specializes in Taiwanese street food like gua bao and five-spice fried chicken, they make an excellent housemade soy milk. ... Tan Kim Hock Coconut Cookies: My friend Sher Minn brought these cookies back from Malaysia for me to try - my favorite type of present1 The miniature cookies look like little Cinnabons and are composed of dried shredded coconut mixed with breadcrumbs, egg, sugar. They have a crumbly yet crispy texture and taste purely of toasted coconut. Just sweet enough to be a dessert but easy to eat by the handful. Very tasty! A classic snack since 1967. 4.0/5.0

Tao Kae Noi Super Crisp grilled seaweed (classic flavor): Seaweed crisped to an almost chip-like consistency. Thicker than most seaweed strips. Robust flavor somewhat reminiscent of a teriyaki glaze. Surprisingly sweet. Actually really tasty. 4.0/5.0

Tea Addicts Oolong milk tea with grass jelly: I love the herbal flavor and slippery texture of grass jelly, so I'm especially excited when I find a bubble tea shop that makes it just right (not too firm or sweet). Tea Addict's grass jelly is excellent and generous, and their oolong milk tea (which I purchased at 25% sweetness) was well balanced, tasting first of oolong tea with a creamy, milky finish. Easily one of the best bubble tea shops I've had here in Seattle. 4.0/5.0

Tea Hut Jasmine milk tea with boba: It’s kind of outrageous how saturated quality bubble tea shops are in the Bay Area. We’ve all become accustomed with fine-tuning our drinks to our exact specifications - with numerous toppings, sugar levels, and even the amount of ice, down to a percent. With the range of available options, tea shops are resorting to other ways of distinguishing themselves beyond ingredients, turning to the beverage’s vehicle itself: the humble cup. Here at Tea Hut, a small bubble tea shop right next to b. P... (read more) 4.0/5.0

Tea King Iron Buddha Milk Tea with Boba: Another solid boba tea shop in Seattle is Tea King, which has both quality fresh brewed teas and a wide range of fruit teas made with fruit syrup made in-house. Their Iron Buddha Milk Tea is an oolong tea, which had a lovely roasted flavor. (Oolong is my go-to option when I'm looking for something a little more nuanced than black tea but don't want the floral notes of jasmine tea). 25% sweetness was perfect for my sugar tolerance, and the boba was excellent too. 4.0/5.0
